Oh, wow. I needed this verse today. We were supposed to be moving to Minot AFB, ND in about 55 days. We just found out that our moving date has been changed to July 2010. It really threw us for a loop, but we know that God is in control. Thank you for this post!
I have to take issue with something. Dave Ramsey... love him. usually. But, today... I got an email from him (not because we're personal friends but because we've paid to take his FPU class)... and he had the NERVE to say that coffee is not a necessity. it is a luxury. I'm contemplating my open letter to him. Something like this... Dear Dave, Although I appreciate all that you have done in your life and ministry, I have to take issue with one point. Coffee is not a luxury. How can I ask my husband to extend a special line item in our budget for Starbucks when you continue to claim that it is a luxury? Let me educate you on the value of my daily Starbucks .... First of all, it is research... when I get the necessary funds, I plan to open my own coffee shop, and it is vital to my financial peace that I complete the research needed for a successful coffee shop. Secondly, ... have you SEEN me in the morning when I don't have it? Do you work beside me? No... you haven't...
We had an interesting visitor the other night. We were sitting on our back deck eating dinner and we noticed that one of the neighbors' young chickens were headed our direction. We live in an area where the lots are about 1.5 or 2 acres each, and the neighbors always raise about 8 or 9 chickens each year. They wander past their borders every now and then, and we don't really mind because it gives us something to talk about and look at (and apparently blog about). This particular chicken wandered quite a way from it's borders and into our yard, over to the decks and was walking around down under the decks. Shawn went down the steps and decided to see how friendly the little gal was. He went up to it and tried to touch it and it came up to him and let him pet it. I know... who pets a chicken? The next thing you know, he tried to pick it up. I figured for sure the thing was going to squawk and run off...but to my surprise, it let him pick it up. He sat with it for a while, hi...
Tonight I'm going to the release of the Hunger Games - Catching Fire with my 14 year old. It's released tomorrow. Only the movie is 10pm tonight. I know. I don't get it either. But, I'm just stopping by to say that I'm thankful that it's 10pm and not midnight. I'm old and it's Thursday night. Enough said.
