Here's what's on my mind....
In two weeks, our youth group is giving away an iPod Nano. The kids have been bringing friends and getting their name in a drawing so they can win the Nano. My job, as of yesterday, thank you very much, is to find a creative way to pull off this drawing.
I know I could always do the old "put your hand in a box and pull out a name" trick. But, that's just so lame and boring and old-fashioned. I need something new, creative, techno-geek, iPod worthy... oh, and it can't involve any $ because my budget for this is nill... you know, youth group style.
So, any suggestions out there? Anything? We already mentioned one, which is pretty good. But, I don't want to settle for the first idea that comes my way.... it was this:
Have the person drawing stand under a ladder while someone (not me of course) dumps the names on his head and he grabs one out of the air while they fall.
I tried google... "creative drawings" gives me some list of well, you know, creative drawings!
So I tried "creative ways to do a drawing" and it's creative ways to teach drawing!
So I knew it was the word "drawing". thesauras.com gave me another word. "raffle"
Back to google. "Creative raffles" gives me creative raffle prizes...
Yeah, this isn't working.
So, I'm blogging.... you got any ideas?

Bake them into chocolate cupcakes. Then pick a cupcake, eat it, and pull the name out of your mouth. Then send all the leftover cupcakes to my house.
pinata.....with candy and the number
the bingo number roller with someone is a sequine jacket....
fortune cookies (Heth has a maginzine with how-to)
I like the cupcake idea....
Now if you're giving away an Ipod, shouldn't the drawing have music involved? Musical chairs raffling?.....
The way our group (Mergeahead.com)
did it was they had everyone present stand...asked questions, "who has eaten sushi?" If you have you sit down...continue through a list of questions until only one kid is left...btw (by the way)
my daughter won...as she was the only kid there never to have played an organized team sport! ;-)
Sometimes being non-athletic type and a homeschooler pays off!
hope that helps

Maybe you could come up with a skit or fun homemade movie or something like that and then have some kind of contest about the event? It's a good way to get kids to listen.
Good luck!
