prayer request


This little guy is Shawn's little brother, Shelly.

He's going in on Thursday for some surgery on his esophagus. It's been a long road getting to this point. Say a little prayer for him today.

Hello, Tina! Today is Thursday. I don't know if Shelly had his surgery yet, but I am praying for him. I'm sorry he's had a rough road, I hope the surgery helps him and he has a good strong recovery. Keep us posted, please!

chicken little

We had an interesting visitor the other night. We were sitting on our back deck eating dinner and we noticed that one of the neighbors' young chickens were headed our direction. We live in an area where the lots are about 1.5 or 2 acres each, and the neighbors always raise about 8 or 9 chickens each year. They wander past their borders every now and then, and we don't really mind because it gives us something to talk about and look at (and apparently blog about). This particular chicken wandered quite a way from it's borders and into our yard, over to the decks and was walking around down under the decks. Shawn went down the steps and decided to see how friendly the little gal was. He went up to it and tried to touch it and it came up to him and let him pet it. I know... who pets a chicken? Here's what's on my mind....

In two weeks, our youth group is giving away an iPod Nano. The kids have been bringing friends and getting their name in a drawing so they can win the Nano. My job, as of yesterday, thank you very much, is to find a creative way to pull off this drawing. I know I could always do the old "put your hand in a box and pull out a name" trick. But, that's just so lame and boring and old-fashioned. I need something new, creative, techno-geek, iPod worthy... oh, and it can't involve any $ because my budget for this is nill... you know, youth group style. So, any suggestions out there? Anything? We already mentioned one, which is pretty good. But, I don't want to settle for the first idea that comes my way.... it was this: Have the person drawing stand under a ladder while someone (not me of course) dumps the names on his head and he grabs one out of the air while they fall.
