end of the year meme

I, like Heth, did this meme last year... so thought I too would repeat it. You know, just to see how things differed..... I probably have to look back at my pda to see what I did all year...

What did you do in 2006 that you had never done before?
went camping...went on a weekend trip with my 17 year old daughter (just us two!), sent my daughter to China for two weeks, experienced a child with a broken arm all summer (first day of vacation none the less), marathon family reunion, and gained a daughter from Germany, built this house, and moved... and Shawn went elk hunting.

Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Nope and Nope.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
There are always so many babies born around here.... I love them all.

Did anyone close to you die?
No.

What countries did you visit?
Just stayed here..

What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
more time - same as last year.

What dates will remain etched in your memory and why?
Probably moving in to this house....just before Thanksgiving. We were getting so crammed at the other house. And now.... it's so much space. we can breathe again.

What's your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing the house

What was your biggest failure?
I didn't take enough pictures! I know... not much for failures, but I have two nice cameras that don't get used often enough.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
uh... well, I think I have gout in my toe. :)

What was the best thing you bought?
Okay... I won't mention the house again... the HOT TUB!

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Lindsey and Emily danced the Nutcracker Ballet several times in the end of the year. It really was beautiful. I have learned to appreciate the ballet so much.

Whose behavior made you appalled and disgusted?
Can't think of any.

Where did most of your money go?
Groceries. I calculated out how much it costs to feed 7 people.... YIKES!! Trust me... you really don't want to know.

What did you get really really excited about?
Having enough space to finally HAVE COMPANY again!

What song will always remind you of 2005?
We Got the Beat by the Go Gos (hogroast, Nate's gift, reminising the 80s)

Compared to this time last year are you?
a)happier or sadder? happier
b)fatter or thinner? Well, I actually looked at pictures and I hate to admit it.... blech!!!
c)richer or poorer? Richer

What do you wish you had done more of?
Fun times with my girls.

What do you wish you had done less of?
nagging. (sorry honey)

How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
spent it right here at home with some dear friends and lots of paper confetti

One Night With the King.... highly recommend it. You should watch it. Beautiful movie.

What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
skipped work and shopped..... 38.

What one thing would have made your year measurably more satisfying?
I can think of lots of intangible things that are personal and I can't share. But they are things that only God can do.

How would you describe your personal fashion in 2005?
old.

What kept you sane?
coffee - still. :)

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hugo Reyes --- aka Jorge Garcia - just an all around kind and considerate guy.

What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm sick of politics.

Who did you miss?
my family not living here.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
don't use orange glo polish and cleaner on your wood floors.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"we're gonna move"
It is a song I found on the internet... it's about "moving", but the words are a bit compromising... so I won't share the whole thing.

Happy New Year! Have a great 2007!
