a Christmas hot tub party

Okay, I know... I haven't posted in any consistent way for a LONG time. It really is inexcusable. What have we been up to?

Well, for one, we're on our fourth dance recital of the holiday season this coming weekend!

Secondly, we have been enjoying our super FUN advent calendar! Our family has an advent calendar made of fabric we hang on the wall with 24 pockets in it. Each pocket has a note inside that reads something fun we can do for the holiday season. Some are a lot of planning, some are spontaneous, and some are just "read a book"...

Last night??? Have a Christmas Hot Tub Party!

Okay, someone clearly wasn't thinking about that (hint: the mom!). It was a Sunday... not just any ordinary Sunday... but a Sunday in which we decided to sleep in and go to second service, I had to volunteer for 2 1/2 hours for a school function, and our entire family went to the school's madrigal dinner (all kids except 7 yr old involved), not to mention INSTE finals beginning...and an old friend stopped by for a quick visit.

And, the advent calendar is not something you just casually forget to do.... it's law in our 7 year old's eyes.

So, at 9:45pm, when the rest of the day was nearly over, we donned our swim gear and jumped into the 101 degree water with champagne glasses, welch's grape sparkling cider, and five kids... and sang Christmas carols at the top of our lungs in our backyard until our fingers and toes were pruny and waterlogged.

The only thing that could have made it better is a pile of snow and colder air.

Enjoy your families this season!
