Random thoughts and the ENDLESS SUMMER of 08

We had a great weekend. We had some good times with some good friends and just hung out. True to MY plans, we did very little.

However, we -Shawn and Abbie (I was napping actually) did build a fire pit in our backyard for our autumn pleasure! (When Autumn finally comes, that is…since technically, SUMMER ISN’T OVER YET). It was cool on Saturday night so we hung out by the fire for a while and roasted the three hot dogs that were in the refrigerator. We had no marshmallows and we were overly antsy to put something consumable in the fire pit.

In some ways, this summer has sped by,… and in others it has seemed like the ENDLESS summer of ’08. It just doesn’t feel like it is over yet.

Although I do have to say, we hung out with some friends this weekend and they reminded me that technically, SUMMER ISN’T OVER YET.

One friend went to Target on Saturday and bought some cheap swimming pools and spent the day blowing them up to celebrate that technically, SUMMER ISN’T OVER YET!

So, spend the week-weeks-month – whatever you want – celebrating summer because SUMMER ISN’T OVER YET!!!!

Pool closed = Summer over.

There's no point in hot weather without the pool.

Quick! Call an Ambulance!

I went on a bike ride with my 9 year old yesterday. Okay... I will wait a minute while you gain your composure. You don't have to be so loud about it. I had been promising her that we would go on a bike ride together for a few days. Why didn't I promise her a trip to Starbucks for a nice hot latte? So, we ditched a few responsibilities and went on a bike ride. But, I didn't have a bike. So, I was going to walk. She said I could borrow Abbie's bike. Except Abbie has the bike seat from the land down under - you know what I mean. And my rear was not meant to sit on that tiny thing. But, I rode it anyway. After we crossed the street, we started heading down the road and it was pretty nice for a couple minutes. Luckily, my dad lives 2 blocks away, so we had to stop there to say hi and to tell him that we are on a bike ride. Then, we headed back on our bike ride. We left my dad's and there is a slight hill.
